ICBC Lends RMB 1 bn in Instance for Earthquake Relief Work in Yaan
OREANDA-NEWS. May 16, 2013. Immediately after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake broke out in the Lushan county of Ya'an city in Sichuan Province, ICBC took action to provide emergency financial services for the relief and visited the customers in the affected area.
First priorities were the corporate customers involving in the emergency repairs needed to get the power back, and recovery highway and construction work. Loans were provided in the first instance to support their relief work. As of 18:00 on April 25, ICBC has disbursed RMB 1.042 billion in loans to large companies involved in the restoration of electricity supply, highway, manufacturing, trade and commerce and transportation. ICBC loans are critical to recover the infrastructure in the quake-stricken area and supply of daily necessities to the victims.
In an effort to facilitate easy access to financial services for the earthquake victims, ICBC Lushan Sub-branch set up a "Tent Bank" near the Town Square and opened to business in the morning of April 25. ICBC's "Tent Bank" has handled 100+ transfers totaling RMB 14,460,000 as of 18:00 on the day. At present, ICBC is working on the transportation of necessities for Lushan Sub-branch to set up a "board bank" in order to provide better financial services in the affected area.
