Russia, India Discussed Cooperation in Competition Policy
OREANDA-NEWS. May 16, 2013. A delegation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) led by Stats-Secretary, Deputy Head of FAS, Andrey Tsarikovskiy, had a meeting with a delegation of India’s Competition Commission during the 12th Annual Conference of the International Competition Network (ICN).
Andrey Tsarikovskiy and the Chairman of India’s Competition Commission, Ashok Chawla, discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation between the two agencies under the framework of enforcing the Memorandum of Understanding between the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Competition Commission of India (Moscow, 16th December 2011), in particular, possibility of cooperation in investigating cross-border violations of competition law.
The parties also discussed cooperation under BRICS umbrella, including organizing the 3rd International Competition Conference in India in November 2013. Andrey Tsarikovskiy expressed readiness to assist the Indian colleagues in organizing the Conference and emphasized importance of such International Competition Conferences that take place biennially in the member-states and enable competition authorities of BRICS countries to not only discuss pressing issues of competition policy and sum up the results of their efforts for the past two years but also develop common approaches to improving competition enforcement and determine further steps towards cooperation between BRICS competition authorities for the near future.
