OREANDA-NEWS. May 16, 2013. SGCC President Liu Zhenya talked with visiting IEC National Committee (NC) of China President Wang Fengqing to explore China’s development in UHV, smart grid and RE. They expressed their intention to further promote the internationalization of China’s grid tech standards. IEC Vice President and SGCC EVP Shu Yinbiao attended the meeting.

Wang Fengqing said IEC was one of the earliest global organizations for electrotechnology standards. As a full member, China is now capable of turning domestic innovations into international standards with its enhanced national strength and improved technological innovation capability. SGCC has made remarkable achievements in the internationalization of technical standards and is exerting a stronger influence in the international electrotechnology field with its foresight, organization, and technological innovation advantage. The self-developed UHV transmission technology is now leading in the world. Smart grid and the grid network are creating more opportunities for a rapid development of RE industry. Wang hoped that SGCC would continue its efforts in cutting-edge areas, improve the national and industrial standards, and promote the internationalization of relevant standards. IEC NC of China would give its full support.

Liu Zhenya thanked Wang Fengqing for his guidance and introduced the company’s performance in S&T innovation and participation in standard formulation. He said SGCC carried out a series S&T research, experiments and demonstration projects in UHV and smart grid with enhanced innovating efforts. The company was leading among central SOEs in national awards and patents. Under the supervision of IEC, SGCC has formulated 11 international standards on UHV and smart grid and 841 national and industrial standards. The UHV AC voltage has become the international standard. SGCC also undertook 3 IEC TC secretariats. In the future, under the leadership of IEC NC of China, SGCC will keep following the latest development in the electrotechnology field, seizing the opportunity, and taking the initiative to contribute more to the internationalization of Chinese technological standards.

The IEC NC of China workshop was held at SGCC HQ the same day. Exchanges were made regarding how to bring domestic advantages into full play and how to set the strategy and standards in IEC. Wang Fengqing visited the National Power Dispatching Center later.
