OREANDA-NEWS. Hefei Institutes of Physical Science announced on Monday that one of the institutes created an industrial robot with a four degree-of-freedom (DOF) arm.

The machine is designed to carry materials on production lines at high speed and in all directions, said Kong Lingcheng, deputy director of Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology.

Experiments showed that the robot was capable of relocating more than 100 kilograms of stuff up to 1,200 times per hour.

The robot is believed to have bright prospects as there is a growing shortage of labor force for heavy work, Kong said.
