OREANDA-NEWS. MPX is announcing, that UTE Pecem I, a 50%/50% joint venture between MPX and EDP – Energias do Brasil S.A., was authorized by the National Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) to start the commercial operation of the second 360 MW installed capacity generation unit. Plant first 360 MW generation unit was authorized to start commercial operation on December 1st of 2012. Located in Sao Goncalo do Amarante (CE), total UTE Pecem I capacity is 720 MW, which, according to Anuario 2011 published by Empresa de Pesquisa Energetica, is equivalent to half of state 1,396 energy generation system , thus contributing Brazil's energy safety.
