OREANDA-NEWS. In January-April, 2013, Russian seaports handled 186.3 mln t of cargo (+6%, year-on-year), Association of Commercial Sea Ports informs.

 Transshipment of dry cargo totaled 76.5 mln t (-0.2%) including 30.3 mln t of coal (+16.9%), 14.2 mln t of containerized cargo (+3.7%), 3.7 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+23.2%), 1.7 mln t of packaged cargo (+28.9%). Transshipment of ferrous metal fell to 8.2 mln t (-14.8%), ore – to 2.3 mln t (-8.3%), timber – to 1.8 mln t (-7.2%). Transshipment of grain dropped by 75%.

 In the accounting period, transshipment of liquid bulk cargo made 109.8 mln t (+10.9%) including 69.5 mln t of crude oil (+11.3%) and 35.4 mln t of oil products (-0.6%).

 In January-April, Russian ports handled 148.4 mln t of export cargoes (+6%), 15.4 mln t of import cargoes (+19.6%), 12.7 mln t of transit cargoes (-16.2%) and 9.8 mln t of coastal trade cargoes (+27.8%).

 Operators of sea terminals in the Arctic Basin handled 14.8 mln t (+35%, year-on-year) including 7.5 mln t of dry cargo (+3.3%), 7.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (up 2 times). The surge in transshipment of liquid bulk cargo was driven by the increased transshipment of crude oil by Belokamenka terminal by almost 3 times, the statement says. Total throughput of Murmansk port reached 9.6 mln t (+35.4%), Vitino – 1.6 mln t (+18.1%), Varandey – 1.7 mln t (2.5 times), Arkhangelsk – 1.5 mln t (+27.5%).

 Throughput of the Baltic Basin ports was up to 69.6 mln t (+9.2%) including 25.8 mln t of dry cargo (+8.5%), 43.8 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+9.6%). Throughput of Ust-Luga port climbed to 18.6 mln t (1.7 times) mainly due to the launch of liquid bulk terminals, Vysotsk – to 5 mln t (+22.8%), Kaliningrad  - to 5 mln t (+16.4%). At the same time, transshipment volumes dropped in port Primorsk - 23.3 mln t (-11.6%) and Big Port St. Petersburg - 17.4 mln t (-2%).

 The ports of Azov-Black Sea Basin handled 53.4 mln t of cargo (-3%, year-on-year) including 16.6 mln t of dry cargo (-17.1%) with the decreased transshipment of grain and 36.8 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+5.1%). The transshipment volumes were increased in the following ports: Rostov - 2.7 mln t (+11.7%), Taman - 2.4 mln t (up 3.7 times due to the launch of oil terminal). However, throughput of Novorossiysk port fell to 37.5 mln t (-6.5%), Tuapse – to 5.2 mln t (-18.3%).

 The Caspian Basin saw a decrease of throughput to 2.6 mln t (-22.9%) including 0.9 mln t of dry cargo, mostly ferrous metal (-44.6%), 1.7 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-1.5%). Throughput of Makhachkala port fell by 10.3%, Astrakhan – by 37.8%, Olya - 2.2 times.

 The ports of the Far East Basin increased their throughput to 45.8 mln t (+7.8%), including 25.7 mln t of dry cargo (+7.2%) and 20.1 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+8.5%). Throughput increase was registered in Vostochny port – by 19.9% to 15.8 mln t, Vanino – by 15.4% to 7.4 mln t, Nakhodka by 8% to 5.9 mln t, Vladivostok – by 5% to 4.4 mln t. However the following ports decreased their throughput: Prigorodnoye – by 3.9% to 5.7 mln t, De-Castri – by 14.1% to 2.1 mln t, Posiet – by 7.4% to 1.8 mln t.
