Belarus' Grodno Azot Reports 90% Rise in Nitrogen Fertilizer Exports
OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus’ chemical company OJSC Grodno Azot exported USD 36.9 million worth of nitrogen fertilizers in January-February 2013, up 90% year on year, a source in the profile ministry told.
In volume terms, OJSC Grodno Azot exported 43,280 tonnes of nitrogen fertilizers (in terms of 100% nitrogen) to overseas markets in Jan-Dec 2012, up 50% on the year.
Grodno Azot exported 235,300 tonnes (worth USD 195.8 million) of nitrogen fertilizers (in terms of 100% nitrogen) to overseas markets in Jan-Dec 2012, down 27.2% on the year.
Grodno Azot was set up in 1963 and transformed into an open joint-stock company in 2002. The Belarusian government holds a 99.97% stake. The annual capacity is estimated at 305,000 tonnes of sulphuric acid, 645,700 tonnes of nitrogen fertilizers, 111,200 tonnes of caprolactam and 55,400 tonnes of methanol.
Grodno Azot is the main producer of liquid ammonia, nitrogen fertilizers, methanol, caprolactam, biodiesel fuel.
