OREANDA-NEWS. "Uralmashplant" JSC successfully finalized the shipment of crawler-mounted mining shovel EKG-18 to Coal-mining Company "Yuzhny Kuzbas". The high-quality shovel was produced within the period stipulated in the Contract. The total mass of the equipment supplied exceeds 700 t. The plant sent 25 units of rolling stock, including 20 flat cars, and 5 carriers for large-size freights to the customer.

The shovel will be used in stripping coal fields at Krasnogorsky open pit in Kemerovo region. Mounting of the shovel will start in the short term.

EKG-18 is a new product developed by the Uralmashplant designers, this modern reliable crawler-mounted mining machine with the bucket capacity of 18 m3 is intended for high-performance work in the heaviest mining, geological and climatic conditions.

EKG-18 is the first shovel produced by "Uralmashplant", which is equipped with modern a.c. drive that considerably reduces operating and energy costs during shovel operation. Based on the field experience of the previous model (EKG-1500R), the designers increased the power of hoist and crowd drives as well as load-carrying capacity of some units and parts of the shovel.

 The shovel is equipped with information system, microprocessor-based control system, diagnostic systems for various assemblies and mechanisms, and systems to monitor performance parameters. These allow monitoring performance parameters of systems and units, determining main process parameters, protecting assemblies and systems against such operator's faults that can lead to their overload and breakdown.

This is the second shovel EKG-18 made for Kuznetsk Basin mining. The first EKG-18 was put into service at Krasnobrodsky open pit of Coal-mining Company "Kuzbasrazrezugol" JSC more than a year ago and earned positive opinions.
