At Leningrad NPP-2 Began Assembly of First Polar Crane
OREANDA-NEWS. This work is performed by the specialists of Holding's subsidiary OJSC ZARUBEZHENERGOMONTAZH.
For installers of OJSC ZARUBEZHENERGOMONTAZH the assembly of the new circular crane, which will be eventually installed in the the reactor hall of the first power unit of the NPP, began late in April this year. Upon completion of enlargement of structures, the bridge of the polar crane will be rigged up by a crane Liebherr LR 11350 to the 42 meters mark – all the way up under the dome of the reactor containment building.
Load capacity of the first polar crane is more than 360 tons. Thanks to motion along a circular railway, it can perform loading and unloading operations at any point in the reactor hall.
The completion of installation will be one of the key events at the construction site of the Leningrad NPP-2 in the current year. The polar crane moves on a circular rail above the reactor shaft, thus able to perform transportation and hoisting operations anywhere in the building. The new crane will help builders at LNPP-2 to proceed with the rigging of large equipment – the reactor vessel, steam generators, compensator, main circulation piping and pumps.
After commissioning the circular crane will become an indispensable part of the reactor hall equipment and will be used for capital and planned repairs of the power unit, as well as during transportation of nuclear reactor fuel.
TITAN-2 is one of the contractors involved in construction and installation works at the power units 1 and 2 of the Leningrad NPP-2. The company performs over 30% of all general construction and 80% of installation works. 145 construction sites are simultaneously underway at the new site of Leningrad NPP. The holding's own specialists are involved at 42 sites of the 1st and 2nd power units of LNPP-2. The works involve operations with the reactor hall, turbine, power supply, water supply and other facilities of the power units. In total, the project of new LNPP-2 comprises 270 main and auxiliary facilities.
