RInfra's SPV Successfully Conducts Mumbai Metro Trial Run
OREANDA-NEWS. Reliance Infrastructure Limited (RInfra), part of the Reliance Group, through its Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd., (MMOPL) successfully conducted Mumbai Metro’s first trial run.
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr.Prithviraj Chavan flagged off the Metro trial run and expressed his satisfaction regarding the same. Starting from Versona station, the trail run ended at Azad Nagar, which is 3 km away.
MMOPL will conduct many more trial runs before the corridor undergoes safety certification test from Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS); as per the provisions of the Metro Act.
The project is at the advance stage of completion and metro (VAG corridor) is expected to commence commercial operation by the end of this year.
Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL), is a Special Purpose Vehicle created to develop, implement and operate Mumbai’s first Metro Line, on a public-private partnership (PPP) model. It is a consortium formed by Reliance Infrastructure, MMRDA and Veolia Transport SA of France. The Project was awarded to MMOPL for the Concession period of 35 years.
Mumbai Metro One corridor is 11.40 km long, providing connectivity from Versova (Western Mumbai) to Ghatkopar (Eastern Mumbai). A completely elevated structure along the median of the road, it will have 12 stations starting from Versova - D. N. Nagar - Azad Nagar - Andheri - WEH - Chakala - Airport Road - Marol Naka - Saki Naka - Subhash Nagar - Asalpha Road and ending at Ghatkopar. These stations will be situated at an approximate distance of 1 km each and will have platforms at an average height of 12 mts to 13mts with side platform configuration. A concourse will be provided at an intermediate level offering ticketing and other services. The line is estimated to cater to nearly 7 lakhs passenger in its first year service. Once operational, VAG corridor is expected to reduce the travelling time from 90 minutes to 20 minutes.
