NALCO Organized All Odisha QC Convention
OREANDA-NEWS. The 18th All Odisha Quality Circle Convention was organized by NALCO, at Nalco Nagar, Bhubaneswar. The QC Convention is being organized by NALCO since 1996 with an aim to spread the Quality Circle movement in Odisha, and also to provide a platform for competition to encourage the best Quality Circles & TPM Circles operating in the State. This year, the convention witnessed participation of 32 teams, comprising 25 QCs & 7 TPM Circles from different industries of Odisha, who shared their case studies through presentations.
The programme was inaugurated by Shri Ansuman Das, CMD, NALCO. Shri S.S. Mahapatra, Director (Production), Shri S.C. Padhy, Director (HR) and Shri P.K. Pattnaik, GM(TQM) were also present. In his inaugural address, Shri Das said : “Hundred good wishes cannot match a single good deed. Every human being is a source of positive attitude, inspiration, qualitative thinking, provided he is being groomed in a positive environment. Let the spirit of quality bloom within us and bloom around us.”
On the concluding day, Shri S.S. Mohanty, Former ED(H&A), Rourkela Steel Plant, was the chief guest and handed over the prizes to the winning teams. On this occasion, Shri Chandreswar Khan, Former GM of Tata Motors and Shri Bijay Dash, Former ED(Production) of NALCO addressed the participants.
The NALCO Trophy and Gold Plaque were won by Quality Circle `CREATIVE’ of Rourkela Steel Plant, while Quality Circle `POTENTIAL’ of NALCO, Smelter Plant emerged as the Runner-up and won the Silver Plaque. Among the TPM Circles, `POWER PLANT’ of TATA Steel, Joda Mines was the winner and bagged the Gold Plaque, while `JH CIRCLE-23’ of Tata Sponge Iron, Joda was the Runner-up winning the Silver Plaque. Quality Circles `TEJAS’ of OCL India, Refractory Division, Rajgangpur and `QC-6’ of HAL, Engine Division, Sunabeda received awards for Meritorious Performance. Special Prizes for ‘Best Analysis’, ‘Best Process Focus’, ‘Best Effectiveness & Results’, ‘Best Learning Experience’ and ‘Best Team Presentation’ were won by Quality Circles `THIRD EYE’ of Kapilas Cement Works, Tangi, `GOURAV’ of TATA Steel, Sukinda, ‘STAR’, NTPC, Kaniha, ‘PRAGATI’ of NALCO, Alumina Refinery and ‘DYNAMOS’ of Vedanta Aluminium Ltd., Jharsuguda respectively.
