OREANDA-NEWS. President of Russia Vladimir Putin has approved offers on development of Nadvoitsy Smelter developed at the meeting with all interested parties. The corresponding document with the positive visa of the head of the state has reached Head of Karelia.

Let us remind that on March, 22 RUSAL has made a decision of principle to close small unprofitable plants, including the Nadvoitsy Smelter.

Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen has made a stand for the personnel of the enterprise and has drawn attention of federal authorities to solution of the problem. He was very urgent to see the President of the country who has supported the idea in principle concerning conditions on which the factory should keep on working.

– We understood the problem of the situation entirely, therefore, we began to search for ways out of it. With the help of Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Northwestern Federal District and Russian Presidential Executive Office we have induced the management of RUSAL to the negotiation. As a result of the negotiation, Oleg Deripaska has visited the smelter and fundamental ideas for preservation of the enterprise were developed, – Alexander Khudilainen said.

Presidential Aide Elvira Nabiullina was entrusted to hold a meeting to consider the situation at Nadvoitsy Aluminium Smelter. The meeting was held with participation of Head of Karelia, representatives of United Company RUSAL, Open Joint Stock Company Gazprom, Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System, MRSK Holding, and federal authorities. Let us remind, that last year the backbone enterprise of the settlement of Nadvoitsy was facing difficulties, and due to high cost of electric power smelting at the factory became unprofitable.

As a result of consideration of options of further activity of the enterprise and provision of employment of the population of the settlement of Nadvoitsy participants of the meeting have come to a coordinated decision on expediency of purchasing Ondskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant by United Company RUSAL, 100 percent of which electric power is consumed by the Nadvoitsy Smelter.

Participants of the meeting have also supported RUSAL's suggestion regarding the necessity of modernization of aluminium smelting on the basis of one of the factory buildings to establish release of new kinds of products, namely, aluminium foil and powder. The project is supposed to be implemented due to proceeds of the credit issued by Vnesheconombank (Bank of Foreign Economic Activity) state institution.

For implementation of the plan developed at the meeting in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development of the country, the Ministry of Energy of Russia is entrusted to develop scenario conditions for organization of appraisal of the selling transaction of Ondskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant by May, 6.

United Company RUSAL is recommended to prepare and submit an application to Vnesheconombank to receive financing of the project of construction of the factory producing aluminium foil and powder in Nadvoitsy by May, 30.

According to the Head of Karelia, the number of employees of the enterprise, where more than 800 people work today, will remain the same. Moreover, there will be 200-250 jobs more as a result of installation of aluminium processing rolling mills in the spare area of the factory .

– Volumes of production at the enterprise make about 35,000 tons of aluminium. The factory will produce 5,000 tons of aluminium powder, 30,000 tons will be processed into foil. The industrial and financial plan for development of the factory will be adopted by summer. Therefore, today inhabitants of the settlement of Nadvoitsy can be calm – the factory will keep working, – Alexander Khudilainen emphasized.
