NTT DATA at 2013 World Congress on Disaster and Emergency Medicine
OREANDA-NEWS. NTT DATA will be exhibiting its Triage Tag System at the 18th World Congress of the World Association for Disaster and Emergency (WCDEM), which takes place on 28-31 May in Manchester, United Kingdom.
The Triage Tag System is an innovative software solution that can digitize handwritten information on triage tags, using a digital pen. By turning handwritten information from first responders into typed data, information can be quickly relayed from the site of the disaster to local hospitals and emergency centres, speeding up the ability of on-the-ground first responders to match up needs with medical centre support in the surrounding area. This system was jointly developed by NTT DATA and Mr. Koichi Tanigawa, professor of Hiroshima University Department of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine.
“Rapid response is key in emergency and disaster situations,” said Kenji Yahagi of NTT DATA’s healthcare division. “Having the ability to accelerate the placement and treatment of patients in disaster zones with trained staff at local emergency centres will help save lives, as well as speed up the ability of emergency staff to prepare for inbound patients”.
NTT DATA developped the innovative solution for use in the medical emergency transport system at one of Japan’s prefectures , but has since applied this technology to triage tags.
