Google Maps Navigation launched in Baltics
OREANDA-NEWS. SORAINEN Lithuania advised Google on launching a free navigation service in the Baltic States. Google Maps Navigation (Beta) is an internet-connected, GPS navigation system with voice guidance for smart phones which was launched in the Baltic States at the beginning of April 2013.
Since the mobile device has to be connected to the Internet, Google Maps Navigation (Beta) does not require constant updating, allows search of locations by particular keywords (not only by address) as well as voice search. Google Maps Navigation (Beta) also offers Satellite and Street Views for easier orientation while the Traffic View feature allows users to follow live traffic conditions.
SORAINEN investigated the legal compliance of Google navigation services with local laws, including data protection, telecom and general liability rules.
The assignment was handled by partner Renata Berzanskiene and associates Laurynas Ramuckis and Paulius Galubickas.
