Ukraine's Foreign Minister Held Brief in UN Security Council
OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2013. A brief of OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara was held in the UN Security Council.
Speaking in the key UN body in the field of maintenance of international peace and security, Leonid Kozhara told about the implementation of priorities of the Ukrainian presidency in OSCE in 2013, as well as outlined the perspective directions of cooperation of the two organizations in the resolution of global and regional challenges.
It was noted separately the necessity of giving a new impulse to the resolution of the protracted conflicts in the OSCE space, in particular around Transnistria, support the efforts of the co-chairs of the Minsk group in settlement of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the Geneva talks on Georgia. An important direction of the confidence-building in the field of security in Europe will be consolidation and development of the positive results of the dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo.
Leonid Kozhara focused on a number of initiated by Ukraine multilateral targeted events under the auspices of our Chairmanship in the OSCE, in particular in International conference on countering human trafficking and Youth summit.
Members of the UN Security Council unanimously supported laid down by the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine priorities of our country's presidency in the OSCE. The UN Security Council welcomed the first results of the activity of Ukraine at the head of the OSCE.
