OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2013. "Ukraine has great transit potential. But there is no transport corridor in Ukraine which throughout the length of the road consists of the first category. Creating such roads wuthin the corridors North-South, East-West, the Black Sea basin - Eastern Europe - Russia, South West - South East the potential of GDP growth will amount to 5%," Oleksandr Vilkul said, commenting Concept Development Strategy of road sector, which was developed based on analysis of best practices in the development and management of road sector in the European Union.

He emphasized that the key road transit flows through our country are coincide with the main internal roads of Ukraine and have 4 vectors:

North-South Transit flow provides 46% of transit turnover. This route has only about 50% of the roads of the 1st category.

East-West flow - 24% of transit. Share of roads of 1st category is about 25%.

flow from the Black Sea region to Eastern Europe and Russia provides 20% of transit turnover. Share of roads of 1st category is about 3%.

Less proportion of first class roads, about 2% is on the route South West - South East, providing 3% of transit turnover.
