Tata Sons Appoints New Member of Group Executive Council
OREANDA-NEWS. NS Rajan, currently partner and global leader, people and organisation, Ernst & Young (E&Y), will join Tata Sons as member of Group Executive Council and group chief human resources officer, reporting to the Chairman, Cyrus P Mistry, effective May 9, 2013.
Mr Rajan’s three decades of work experience spans industry and consulting, in both line and staff functions, in reputed companies like Ranbaxy, Asian Paints, BlowPlast, ABC Consultants, Asia Online and E&Y.
Mr Rajan joined E&Y in 2001 as Indian people and organisation (P&O) practice leader. He has built the practice in India from scratch to a leading market position today. Two years ago, he was selected to become the first leader of the global P&O practice with a mandate to develop and grow the footprint of its HR advisory services worldwide, which today encompasses 50 countries in five continents. His expertise spans the entire value chain of human resources, and he has rendered consulting services to boards and senior management teams.
A graduate in economics from Loyola College, Chennai, and a post-graduate in business management from XLRI, Jamshedpur, Mr Rajan is currently pursuing doctoral studies with the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Mr Rajan is the former national president of the National HRD Network (NHRDN), the country's premier association of the human resources fraternity, having spearheaded seminal changes through the board. He has also served as a member of various CII national committees, and has been a member of the governing council of the Consultancy Development Centre under the aegis of the government of India’s ministry of science and technology.
Rajan has received accolades such as Outstanding HR Leadership by Hindustan Times HR Leadership Awards, 2012, and earlier as HR Professional of the Year 2008 by NHRDN. Amongst his other interests are photography and art appreciation. In addition to a linguistic flair in many languages, he also writes poetry in three languages. An avid writer, Mr Rajan’s thought leadership is evidenced in the many articles written by him across various media, evangelising HR. He has been cited in many academic texts on HR and is a visiting faculty and guest speaker at premier business schools like IIM-Ahmedabad, and XLRI, Jamshedpur.
