OREANDA-NEWS. The employees of JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (“SP SPb”) together with the specialists of LLC “Universal Forwarder” handled two-unit locomotive KZ8A from new series of mainline electric locomotives for Kazakhstan.

Locomotive was discharged from vessel to the railway tracks of berth Nr. 38 by floating crane “Bogatyr”. Operation was performed at the ro-ro terminal of “SP SPb”.

Freight locomotive KZ8A is one of the most powerful electric locos in the world, capable to pull the weight up to 9000 tons at speed of 120 km/h. It is specially designed by “Transmashholding” and Alstom Transport for CJSC “NK Kazakhstan Temir Zholi” (KTZh). It is able to operate within temperature rate from -50°C до +50°C.
