OREANDA-NEWS.  May 08, 2013. In Moldova 104 thousand 727 bank cards were emitted in Q1, 2013, 15.5% up versus the same period in 2012 (90 thousand 679).

According to the NBM, in Q1, 2013 the number of bank cards withdrawn from the circulation decreased 11.8% from 68 thousand 433 to 60 thousand 365. There were 1 million 056 thousand 035 bank cards in circulation in the same period, which was 13.1% more than in Q1, 2012, reports the NBM.

By the end of March, 2013, the admitting network of bank cards equaled to 10750 special devices, growing by 18.3% versus the end of March, 2012 – 9088 special devices. In particular, there are 9713 POS-terminals in the country at the moment, versus 8126 terminals in March, 2012. Mostly, POS-terminals are placed in the retail store networks to simplify the process of payment via plastic cards.

There were also 91 imprinters by the end of March, 2013, and 92 – by the end of March, 2012; 946 ATM’s – by the end of March, 2013, and 870 – by the end of March, 2012.
