The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Banks Association, and the Banking and Finance Academy of Uzbekistan organized a scientific-practical conference on issues of enhancing the investment activity of financial institutions in Uzbekistan. It was attended by members of parliament, experts of the relevant ministries, financial, credit and banking institutions, employees of representative offices of international financial institutions in our country, and scholars.

Chairman of the Committee of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on budget and economic reforms A.Altiev, deputy chairman of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan A.Haydarov, chairman of the Uzbekistan Banks Association S.Abdullaev, head of the representative office of the World Bank in Uzbekistan Takuya Kamata and others pointed out that under the leadership of President Islam Karimov a great attention is paid to further strengthening and stimulating investment activity of commercial banks and other financial institutions, to creating a favorable business environment, modernization of production, increasing the volume and improving the quality of export products.

The presidentail resolution  "On the priority areas for further reform and improving the stability of the financial and banking system in 2011-2015 and achieving high international rating indicators" from November 26, 2010 is an important factor in improving the work to a new level.

As a result, in the first quarter of this year nearly 84 percent of the total volume of investments in the country were foreign direct investment. 114 new investment projects worth a total of \\$ 4.3 billion were implemented.

The conference discussed issues of sustainable development of the financial and banking system, further enhancing the investment activity of commercial banks and other financial institutions, increasing the engagement of foreign investments and domestic resources, security of investments in the real sector of the economy.
