Ukraine Presents Concept Strategy of Motor Road Economy Development
OREANDA-NEWS. May 03, 2013. A Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Vilkul has presented at a Government’s session a Concept strategy of motor road economy development. It was elaborated on the basis of analysis of best practices of the development and management of road economy in the European countries.
88% of motor roads in Ukraine were designed for axle loads amounting 6 tons. At the time when contemporary motor transport has 11.5 tons of axle loads. The number of heavy transport is growing annually. At this, on the estimations of experts 30-40% of heavy vehicles drive to the roads with excess loads. On the calculation of experts traffic of heavy transport reduces periods between maintenances of motor roads and bridges twofold.
“It proves necessary here introduction of a European system of weight control standards and payment for use of roads for heavy transport with 11.5 tons axle loads, also intensifying responsibility and fines for excess weight standards,” Olexandr Vilkul said.
