Ukraine, Iran to Hold Meeting of Intergovernmental Commission
OREANDA-NEWS. April 30, 2013. Ukraine and Iran plan to hold the 5th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and Minister of Agriculture of Islamic Republic of Iran Sadeq Haliliyan in Kyiv.
"I see no reason why we could not hold a regular meeting of Ukrainian-Iranian Commission with clear informative post about the list of issues to be addressed," Mykola Azarov said.
He added that Ukraine is interested in intensifying cooperation with Iran with unconditional observance of international sanctions imposed against the country.
Mykola Azarov said that the co-chair of the intergovernmental commission from the Ukrainian side will be appointed Minister of Agrarian Industry and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, as more than 60% of Ukrainian exports to Iran are agricultural products.
According to the PM of Ukrainian Government is also promising cooperation in the aviation industry, the transportation sector and in the field of training of specialists.
Sadeq Haliliyan noted that the Ukrainian-Iranian trade is constantly growing and now it is more than USD 1 billion, "Fortunately, the volume of trade between the two countries is growing, and now it has reached USD 1 billion 270 million. There are also well placed to increase it three times," he said.
The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Iran gave Mykola Azarov an invitation from the First Vice-President to visit Iran. Mykola Azarov has accepted the invitation.
