Aviadvigatel Cooperates with Novosibirsk Scientists
OREANDA-NEWS. Aviadvigatel OJSC received a delegation of scientists of Novosibirsk Khristianovich Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ITAM SB RAS).
On the delegation:
Vadim A. Lebiga, ITAM SB RAS International Center of Aerophysical Studies, Executive Director, D.Sc. in engineering,
Vitaly N. Zinoviev, Scientific Secretary of the SB RAS Joint Academic Council on power-engineering, mechanic engineering, mechanics and management processes and the Joint Academic Council on mathematics and information science, Cand. Sc. (Physics and Mathematics).
Within the framework of the implementation of the Programme of the co-operation between Aviadvigatel OJSC and institutes of the Power-Engineering, Mechanic Engineering, Mechanics and Management Processes branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Novosibirsk scientists offered Perm designers their new development based on the hot-wire method for the work on developing the PD-14 engine with the view of its further reduction to the practice of acoustical bench tests at the measuring complex. This will give Aviadvigatel specialists the unique chance of determining properties of the gas-air mixture flow (that is velocity, temperature, velocity and temperature fluctuation) in the boundary layers and the mixture layers both at the ‘ducted flow' simulator and within an aircraft gas turbine engine.
Data obtained using the measuring system based on the hot-wire method will supplement measurements of fluctuations, noise, acoustic intensity which today are performed by the Perm Design Bureau. Cumulative results of acoustic and fluctuation measurements will enable Aviadvigatel designers to develop more perfect noise-suppression structures as well as improve the PD-14 performance that would ensure it the competitiveness and the meeting to the advanced environmental requirements of ICAO Chapter 14.
