BEA Organizes “A Day-off for Mom and Dad”
OREANDA-NEWS. April 29, 2013. The Bank of East Asia (“BEA”) announces that its Volunteer Team held “A Day-off for Mom and Dad” for families of Yat Tung Estate in Tung Chung, Lantau Island in co-operation with the Tung Chung Centre of the YMCA of Hong Kong.
Yat Tung Estate is home to a large number of single parent / low-income families. Weighed down by the stress of household and childcare chores or the demands of long working hours, the parents of these families seldom have a chance to relax. “A Day-off for Mom and Dad” was designed to provide children with an opportunity to thank their parents by cooking dinner for them, and to allow parents to relax and enjoy the company of their children.
Mr. Adrian Li, Deputy Chief Executive, and Ms. Mimi Kam, General Manager and Head of Human Resources & Corporate Communications Division of BEA, and members of the BEA Volunteer Team helped the children prepare a dinner for their parents, while the parents were taken to Stanley for a relaxing afternoon. In addition to making dinner at the Tung Chung Centre, children also bought a thank you gift for their parents using funds from the budget provided to each of them. A total of ten families participated in this meaningful event.
