OREANDA-NEWS. April 29, 2013. A 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Lushan, Ya'an in Sichuan Province. CNPC's 15 affiliates in Sichuan reported no casualty, with production and operation under control. An emergency coordination team led by Chairman Zhou Jiping was immediately set up to mobilize all the company's resources to support the rescue and relief work. A group of experts from the headquarters headed by CNPC Vice President Shen Diancheng and PetroChina Vice President Liu Hongbin arrived at Chengdu at 23:00 the same day and then went to Ya'an the next morning.

Under the unified command of the emergency coordination team, CNPC affiliates in Sichuan firstly ensured the safety of employees working in the affected area and examined oil and gas field facilities and service station devices to counter aftershock. Nonstop oil supply around the clock was guaranteed at the service stations along the way to Lushan to fuel vehicles for the transportation of the troops, medical teams and materials for disaster rescue and relief. Gas supply was restored as soon as possible.

And 11 CNPC fire-fighting and rescue crews were ready for service. In addition, as required by the National Development and Reform Commission, we have provided portable houses of 9,000 square meters which will soon be sent to Lushan.
