SOCAR Hosts Representatives of OPCW
OREANDA-NEWS. A meeting was held with Ambassador Ahmet Uzumcu, Director General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) which is among the organizers of the regional training courses on the Technical Aspects of the Transfers Regime of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
The meeting focused on significance of the regional seminar jointly organized by the OPCW and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, including the role of such events in the development of the international cooperation on peaceful application of the chemical products.
Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of SOCAR’s Azerikimya PU Mukhtar Babayev spoke about the recent achievements in the chemical and petrochemical industry of Azerbaijan, new Petrochemical Complex to be built in Garadagh, perspectives of Chemical Industry Park and Urea Plant being constructed in Sumgait, as well as their importance in provision of food security of Azerbaijan and the whole region. The attendees were informed on the strengthening petrochemical market position of SOCAR’s biggest asset in Turkey, Petkim.
