Ukraine to Intensify Protection of Intellectual Property Rights
OREANDA-NEWS. April 25, 2013. In his speech, the Vice Prime Minister stressed that recently, on commission of President Viktor Yanukovych, the Government had taken a series of system steps in order to make Ukraine a state in which intellectual property rights were protected reliably.
At this, he emphasized that a priority appears raising of legal culture of Ukrainian society in these issues. “The main problem in the area of property rights’ protection in Ukraine appears low level of legal awareness of Ukrainians in this field. Active struggle against Internet piracy, retail trade in unlicensed software, video and audio materials – all these necessary measures do not share support and are often exposed to resistance by the society. Only a complex public awareness campaign which will show the need and advantages of respect to copyright can change the situation,” the Vice Premier stressed.
At the same time, he underlined that such activity “proves necessary neither for our American partners, nor for corporations from the Silicon valley or Hollywood, but for the Ukrainian industry, national musicians and actors, inventors and scientists”.
In the frames of the event Kostyantyn Gryshchenko got acquainted with “The Children-Inventors” exhibition and participated in an award ceremony of the competition “The invention of the year – 2012”.
