Foodstuffs Fell by 3,6% in Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2013. On the data of the State Statistics Committee, as of April 1, 2013 an index of consumer prices for foodstuffs decreased by 3.6% as compared to the analogous period of last year. At the same time, the value of consumer basket decreased by UAH 24.66 as of mid April.
On the eve of Easter holidays an issue of growth of cost of products is raised. Though enterprises of agrarian sector produced sufficient amount of foodstuffs, accordingly, their cost remains stable and even lower than last year. So, according to the State Statistics Committee’s data, as of April 1, 2013 index of consumer prices for foodstuffs reduced by 3.6% as compared to the analogous period of last year.
So, milk, cheese and eggs fell in price by 6%, fish – by 4.3%, while the cost of meat reduced by 1% in comparison to the respective period of last year.
On the calculations of the State Statistics Committee, as of April 15, 2013 the value of consumer basket fell by UAH 24.66 in average. However, in various regions of Ukraine this sum differs.
It is naturally that in Kyiv the value of consumer basket is the highest and makes up UAH 548.22. Instead, the lowest appears the value in Rivne region – UAH 435.42 and Volyn region – UAH 413.16. At this, if in Chernihiv region the value of food basket fell by 4.5% in comparison with the previous year, in Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk regions and Crimea it grew a little. In addition, it is observed speculative pre-holiday boost of food prices in certain markets of the country. Though, it is unreasonable.
