Customs bodies are a main state institution, securing economic sovereignty of the country.  Economic potential of the country and consequently its future depend on the efficiency of customs control, trade regulation and internal market protection. Wide-scale attention is paid to improving material-technical base of customs bodies, which will support successful execution of tasks, in Uzbekistan.

Specialists of state customs committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan spoke about the activities of the committee at the press-conference, held at the National press-centre of Uzbekistan. In particular, the Program of measures on strengthening material-technical base of the State Customs bodies for 2011-2015 was discussed.

According to deputy chairman of the State customs committee G.Shukurov, the program aims at introduction of information and commucations technologies into the activities of customs bodies. Two large mobile autoscanners were put into operation at the Oybek customs border post in Tashkent region and Ayritom customs border post in Surkhandarya region. Similar equipment for scanning railway cars were installed at Galaba railway customs post in Surkhandarya region. Since their installation, 321 tax law offences were detected. According to customs officials, until the end of the year new scanning equipment will be delivered to customs borders posts in Andijan, Bukhara and Surkhandarya regions.

Thanks to implementation of this program, “Daryo porti” (River port) customs post in Surkandarya region, Aeroport (Airport) post in Navoi region, Tashkent international airport were equipped with 23 sets of x-ray equipment. All customs posts now have carplate recognition software .

Specialists of the State customs committee also spoke about the single information system of the agency and answered questions at the press-conference.
