POSCO Will Hire 850 Intern Employees This Year
OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2013. POSCO newly established the POSCO Challenge Internship this year, and will hire 800 interns domestically and 50 from overseas, offering on-the-job training at POSCO Family sites both domestically and abroad. Interns with high scores will be hired as full-time employees.
Accordingly, POSCOs new hires this year will increase to 6,400 including the 850 Challenge Interns.
POSCO newly created a process where academic background and photos do not need to be filled in, and accordingly will hire about half, 400 interns, purely based on their passion and potential. The Company?s principle is to lead a sound hiring culture where social costs are not used to accumulate specifications and backgrounds for hiring.
Those who apply in this process only need to submit a free format essay expressing their challenging spirit, creativity, and their own story. Intern candidates are selected in May and start internships in June.
This internship is unique in accepting applicants from abroad to support overseas advancement of the younger generation. Overseas interns will work for 6~12 months at POSCO subsidiaries in Japan, China, Vietnam, India, and Indonesia, being fostered as regional specialists receiving training in local culture and business.
Domestic interns will work for 5 months starting in June at 10 major family companies including POSCO, Daewoo International, POSCO E&C, POSCO Energy, POSCO ICT, POSCO P&S and others. An ability development training program will take place in the first month to help each individual have an opportunity to strengthen their abilities.
