OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2013. Yu Wei, Chairman of Standing Committee of Chengdu Municipal People' s Congress, conducted an inspection tour to the jobsite of the Transformation Project of Chengwen Road undertaken by the 5th China Metallurgical Construction Group (5MCC Group).

Over 30 NPC members of Sichuan Province and Chengdu City, as well as Assistant General Manager Qing Aiguo of 5MCC Group and Manager Yuan Hongyi of Road & Bridge Company of 5MCC Group, accompanied Yu during the visit.

The delegation members learned in details the project implementation progress. Though the project commencement was delayed for four months, 5MCC Group tackled various difficulties by taking effective measures so as to catch up with the original schedule. All of them placed a high premium on such perfect performance of 5MCC Group. Yu Wei regarded the Project of Two Express Ways and Two Radiation Highways as one of the strategic and demonstrative works highlighted by CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee, as well as one of the livelihood projects in terms of improvement of the transportation conditions for the citizens. This project is featured by tight execution schedule and complicated technical process. Yu believed that 5MCC Group, as one of the central enterprises with outstanding competence, would complete the works on a quality and timely basis.

The transformation works of Chengwen Road starts from Chengwen Flyover in the 2nd Ring Road in the east, and ends at the east side of Supo Flyover in the 3rd Ring Road in the west of the city, with a total length of 2.5km. After completion, through the new Chengwen Road, people could quickly drive away in the west direction from the downtown area. The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System will be seamlessly linked with the No. 4 and No. 7 Metro Lines, and thus form a comprehensive transportation network in the west of the city.

As one of the key parts of the Five Rejuvenation Strategies of the city, this project has attracted keen attention from the local government in terms of its significance in tackling the traffic congestion problem. The first part of the whole works smoothly passed through acceptance inspection several days ago. Now the 2nd-layer pitch pavement work of the bridge has been started, which lays a consolidated foundation for the timely completion and commissioning of the project.
