OREANDA-NEWS. Aeroflot Group member-companies were announced the winners in main nominations at the Russian National Civil Aviation Award Ceremony "Wings of Russia" celebrated at "Renaissance Moscow Monarch Center" hotel.

JSC "Aeroflot — Russian Airlines" was triumphant in the most prestigious nominations: "Airline of the Year — Domestic Passenger Carrier, Group I (passenger volume over 3 bln pkm)" and "Airline of the Year — International Scheduled Passenger Carrier". Moreover, following the results of air passengers’ internet survey 2012, Aeroflot took the special prize — "Russian Airline of the Year — People’s Choice".

Aeroflot subsidiary companies also performed in a perfect way. The Orenburg Airlines company (OrenAir) was recognized as "Airline of the Year — Passenger Carrier Charter Operations". The SAT Airlines company became the winner in the nomination "Airline of the Year — Domestic Passenger Carrier, Group IV (passenger volume from 0.05 to 0.5 bln pkm".

Wings of Russia Award ceremony remains one the most important annual events in Russia’s air transport industry calendar. Along with excellence recognition the contest results illustrate key market trends and the real state of affairs in Russia’s air transport.

In 2013 the Ceremony was held for the 16-th time. 49 Russian and 67 foreign air carriers were nominated. The winners and finalists in 11 nominations were elected by the High Jury, formed by more than 100 independent experts from Civil Aviation industry, aviation professionals, journalists and government officials. In 4 nominations the winners were chosen by the open online voting.
