Norilsk Nickel Revamps Corporate Structure
OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2013. OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel (hereinafter, Norilsk Nickel or the Company) announces introduction of a new corporate structure and new senior appointment to the management team.
In the first quarter of 2013 the Company completed a comprehensive strategic review of its corporate structure with the purpose of ensuring its full alignment with the best international practices and enhancing the organisational focus on economic efficiency of the business. The new structure, that was approved today by Vladimir Potanin, the General Director of Norilsk Nickel, aims to strengthen the system of investment governance and project management within the organisation, flatten the organisational structure, enhance the development of cross-functional, project-centered competences and nurture the culture of efficiency and accountability throughout the Company.
In order to fully reflect these principles in its new corporate structure, the Company will Create a dedicated strategy and business development corporate function under the management of a newly appointed Deputy General Director of the Company Pavel Fedorov. His main areas of responsibility will include rebalancing of the corporate development strategy to ensure the sustainable growth of capitalisation of the business, enhancing the system of investment governance, increasing the efficiency of the Company’s global marketing and sales business, as well as implementation of other strategic initiatives. Prior to joining Norilsk Nickel Pavel Fedorov served as Deputy Minister of Energy in the Government of Russian Federation responsible for the oil and gas sectors and restructuring of the industry tax system. In 2010-2012 Pavel Fedorov was the First Vice-President of Rosneft Oil Company, where he oversaw Finance, Economics and Strategy of the Company. In 1997-2009 Pavel Fedorov worked as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley and UBS.
Strengthen its dialogue with the investment community and government authorities that will be achieved with the appointment of Andrey Bougrov to the position of Deputy General Director. Mr. Bougrov will aim to continue the effective dialogue with the Company’s key shareholders and government authorities given the high priority of social and environmental policies in the Company’s development strategy. Andrey Bougrov is one of the most experienced and reputable Russian managers with deep knowledge of the Company as he served as a member of the Board of Directors since 2002 and as a Chairman of the Board of Directors since June, 2011 till March, 2013. Currently he is a Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Improve the efficiency of its energy business and rationalise шеы non-core assets by appointing Onik Aznauryan to the position of Deputy General Director. Prior to Norilsk Nickel Onik Aznauryan was the CEO of Energostroyinvest-Holding, one of the largest contractors in the Russia’s power sector. Onik Aznauryan has more than a 20-year experience in the private sector turning around companies’ in key segments of Russia’s economy.
Members of the Board of Directors of MMC Norilsk Nickel will receive the proposals to make relevant changes in the composition of the Company’s Management Board.
