Wizz Air Moves 4 of 8 Routes to Rome Ciampino
OREANDA-NEWS. Wizz Air, the largest low-fare, low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, which flies to 15 Italian airports and offers 60 Italian routes, announced today that it will move 4 of its 8 Fiumicino routes to Rome Ciampino Airport from 7 May These Rome routes to Gdansk in Poland and Cluj Napoca, Timisoara and Tirgu Mures in Romania will operate from Rome Ciampino airport in response to raising costs at Fiumicino airport.
"Wizz Air offers its consumers incredibly low fares and we will continue to work more with airports that offer lower costs. Our Rome routes to Gdansk, Cluj Napoca, Timisoara and Tirgu Mures, carry over 140,000 passengers per year on very low fares. One airport’s loss is another airport’s gain, and after Fiumicino airport charges have been increased to unreasonable levels, that do nothing to promote tourism and protect jobs, we will now bring this business to Rome Ciampino airport. While Wizz Air continues to operate 4 other routes at Fiumicino (to Prague, Sofia, Vilnius and Warsaw) we can confirm that it is mainly airports with the lowest costs that will benefit of Wizz Air’s phenomenal passenger traffic growth”, said Daniel de Carvalho, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air.
