OREANDA-NEWS. Delegates of the German firm Jena-Optronik GmbH have visited Academician M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems.

During their three-day stay, the guest attended one of ISS-Reshetnev’s sites where they examined Jena Optronik’s Astro APS star tracker which had been integrated on a Glonass-M navigation spacecraft. Both companies will evaluate performance of this instrument and make decisions regarding further cooperation. "Testing this new star sensor, we expect good results. They are necessary to enable us to deliver our products to the company which is universally recognized as the leading Russian satellite manufacturer", said Uwe Schmidt, technical project manager.

Apart from that, representatives of Jena-Optronik also gave a lecture to students at M.F. Reshetnev Siberian State Aerospace University, this higher education institution is the main partner of ISS-Reshetnev in professional training. The lecture was dedicated to satellite attitude control systems and recent developments of the German company in this field.
