OREANDA-NEWS. April 19, 2013. According to the Ministry of Economy, 5 years ago, the rate of FEZ in Moldavian export was 5.54% and industrial production 5.04%. During Ungheni summarizing meeting on the results of FEZ activity in Moldova, Valeriu Lazar, acting Minister of economy, noticed that despite positive results, the role of FEZ in Moldova is still not the same as it is wished to be.

FEX take less than 10% in industrial production and export, and it is not enough and there is much to be done more. He thinks that in the case if FEZ is not going to be effective, they will have to prove why these “oasis” were created under the special conditions. He called administrators of FZ and institutions of local and central public government to be more active in promoting FEZ, cooperate with Moldavian embassies in abroad and foreign diplomatic missions in Moldova, improve communication of state institutions for solving the problems met by FEZ investors.

It is also necessary to get rid of ‘deadheads’ (residents who are passive and do not perform their responsibilities) in free zones, says Lazar. He specified there is an emergency situation in FEZ Taraclia, where 9 residents are registered and who mostly didn’t work last year and no production works were made. During the meeting held by FEZ resident companies, the representatives noticed that some of legislation amendments, passed last year, practically do not work, and there is disagreement with sub-legislative standard acts.

The following were mentioned as well: difficulties among zone’s residents while processing the transactions on raw materials supply for export, problems with industrial wastes removing from FEZ, defining customs-tariffs on the exporting industrial products in FEZ Moldova, VAT compensation, dearth of workpeople, etc.

By authority of acting Minister of Economy, FEZ administrators will gather all residents’ complaints and suggestions in order to learn about problem solving abilities and realization of future-oriented ideas within the shortest possible period of time.
