OREANDA-NEWS. The LCD production joint venture between Sharp Corp. and Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. posted a net loss of 7.4 billion yen for the nine-month period ended Dec. 31, according to data released Monday.

Sakai Display Products Corp. was created when Sharp spun off its LCD factory in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, last July. Sharp holds a 37.6% stake in the unit.

Sharp has already factored in the impact of the unit's performance on its consolidated earnings for the fiscal year ended March 31, according to a company spokesperson.
