OREANDA-NEWS.  April 17, 2013. The first launch of Cyclone-4 rocket carrier will be held in Alcantara center in Brazil in the end of 2014. This was announced by a Vice Prime Minister Yuriy Boyko in the comment for the Inter channel.

“We are following the schedule: concerning building of cosmodrome, infrastructure and creating a rocket and a satellite. The term of the first launch is in the end of 2014 and we are sure we will manage to meet the deadlines,” Yuriy Boyko said.

The Vice Premier added that Ukraine is one among not many world countries capable to realize such a large-scale project in the space area. At this, the project not only provides with workplaces and flow of foreign funds to the country, but facilitates to forming its positive image in the world.

“The project is a very large-scale: it is building of cosmodrome practically from zero and construction of the Cyclone-4 rocket on the basis of improved existing models. It gives an impetus to all the industries of the country, as the Cyclone-4 project means around 20 thousand workplaces, a considerable flow of currency to the country and its positive image and authority on the international arena. We are dealing with the project only three-five world countries are going to participate in,” he said.

Yuriy Boyko noted that President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych had facilitated stirring up realization of the project and receiving financing.

“The work was activated when the President visited Brazil, where there was held a detailed discussion of the project, terms and conditions,” Yuriy Boyko said.

He added that in the future realization of the project would enable carrying out several launches of commercial satellites annually.

“As experience of European countries demonstrates, as a rule, it is several launches a year. In general these are communication satellites, commercial ones. Based on the experience of Europe these programs give hundreds millions of dollars revenues,” Yuriy Boyko told.

The Cyclone-4 project is realized pursuant to the “Agreement between Ukraine and Federal Republic of Brazil about long-term cooperation in use of the Cyclone-4 rocket carrier from Alcantara Launch Center of October 21, 2003”.

Ukraine ensures design of the Cyclone-4 rocket carrier and preparation of a productive base. Brazil ensures creation of general infrastructure of the launch center. The partners create land complex for launch of the Cyclone-4 rocket carrier on the parity basis.
