Polyus Gold International Limited (“the Company”) announces that it has been notified by Robert Buchan, the Chairman of the Board, that, in light of his recent appointment as President and CEO of Allied Nevada Gold Corp., a US-based gold mining and exploration company listed on the Toronto and New York stock exchanges, in addition to his position as Executive Chairman of that company, he intends to resign from the Board at the conclusion of the Company’s 2013 Annual General Meeting.

The Board’s Nominations Committee, which is comprised solely of independent directors, has initiated a search for a new independent Chairman of the Board.
