OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2013. Nguyen Van Vinh, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lao Cai Province, conducted an inspection tour to the jobsite of Kunming Iron & Steel Works in Vietnam. This project is being undertaken by the Electro-mechanics Company of China First Metallurgical Construction Group (CFMCC Group).

At outset, Chairman Nguyen expressed gratitude to CFMCC Group on its participating in the economic growth of Vietnam and the contribution made to the development of Lao Cai Province. He praised Lao Cai Province to be a large-scale construction contractor with long history and outstanding technical competence. Chairman Nguyen expected CFMCC Group to carry forward the exemplary working style and complete the construction work on a quality basis. He also promised to coordinate the Public Security Department and Frontier Inspection Station of Lao Cai Province to organize a specific team, and guarantee the security of the project staff and equipment of CFMCC Group on site. Project Manager Li Peng under this project of CFMCC Group made a solemn commitment that, the Group would, complete the project relying on its advantages of various technologies and professional resources, so as to contribute to the friendship development between Vietnam and China.

Situated in the local Industrial Zone, This works is invested by Sino-Vietnam Mineral Resources & Metallurgy Co., Ltd., and will be jointly operated by Lao Cai Province, Vietnam Steel Corporation and Kunming Iron & Steel Group. As one of the key projects in Lao Cai Province, it will be built into the second largest iron & steel works of Vietnam after completion, with an annual steel output capacity of 1 million tons. The project was commenced on April 17, 2011. And the Electro-mechanics Company of CFMCC Group was awarded with the contract for the follow-up works such as the sintering facility (102 square meters) and the iron-making converter of Lao Cai Iron & Steel Works in March 2013, with a construction period of four months.
