OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2013. CEO Chung Joonyang and Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt held a video conference, respectively from the Seoul POSCO Center and the Google Place Hangout at the Mountain View, California headquarters.

In the meeting, both companies` chairmen shared the actual results of the MOU signed back in 2011, and discussed continuous development of the cooperative relationship.

The video conference took place one year after CEO Chung visited Google`s headquarters in April of last year, where CEO Chung explained, ``The POSCO Smart Workplace System (SWP) is a innovative platform for communication and cooperation established based on the combination of Google`s advanced information technology (IT) and POSCO`s unique corporate culture, and is innovatively changing the way POSCO works as well as the company`s culture.``

After establishing the SWP system at POSCO, approximately 140,000 cases of knowledge and idea sharing have taken place between employees, while offline meetings and reports declined while reducing related costs including business trips by about 30%.

With the mobile office, which allows for access regardless of time and location, statistics show that decision-making lead time has been reduced by more than 63%.

Also, with the introduction of the SWP system, POSCO employees can now communicate or cooperate through smart phones or personal computers in real-time from anywhere at any time, further improving decision-making speed by reducing approval lead time.

Particularly, searching for company specialists on specific issues, as well as synergy based on collective intellect by gathering all information for searching and editing in one place through the knowledge sharing system in the form of a blog, has been maximized.

POSCO plans to expand know-how on establishing the SWP system to investing companies this year, and will continue cooperation with Google to share innovative culture in the way of working.
