OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2013. Each year the world celebrates World Health Day. On this day, Children’s Art Festival “Butterfly” will be held in Kyiv (Ukrainian House, a multi-functional exhibition centre, № 2 Khreshchatyk, at 15:00). The 2013 Charity Festival is aimed at supporting blind and visually impaired children.

The Festival will be organised by the Foundation for Youth and Olympic Swimming (whose President is Denis Silantyev), encouraged and aided by the UNO. Baltic International Bank will be the Official Partner of the event. The main goal of the Festival is to draw public attention to particular problems faced by blind and visually impaired children.

The event will be hosted by Honoured Actor of Ukraine Vladimir Goriansky and his daughter Maria, and a theatre and movie actress Rimma Ziubina.

The festival will gather the winners, laureates and participants of the international and Pan-Ukrainian contests, pop stars and talented musicians who are sight-challenged. 

It will be a fundraising event. Money raised through ticket sales will be channelled to the purchase of wearable assistive devices and assistive materials for blind and visually impaired children.

Ukraine’s and European swimming champion Denis Silantyev has four world championship victories in butterfly, won the silver medal at the 2000 in Sydney Olympic, set 37 records in Ukraine.

The Foundation for Youth and Olympic Swimming was established in 2008. The Foundation’s core objectives are to create the right environment (economic, legal and social conditions) that is conducive to developing vitally essential swimming skills, designed primarily for children and youth elaborate a pan-national swimming development program promote healthy lifestyles among the Ukrainian population.
