Toshiba Celebrates Finalization of Smart Community Center in Kawasaki
OREANDA-NEWS. Toshiba Corporation announced that it has completed the construction of its Smart Community Center in Kawasaki, Japan. The new center will be the base for Toshiba's organizations in Japan involved in the smart community businesses.
Construction of the 15-story building started in July 2011 and is scheduled to open in October this year. It will provide a business base for approximately 7,800 people from Smart Community related businesses and divisions, including cloud solutions, and Toshiba Group companies. The consolidation of related staff in a single location, which will be completed within FY2013, will facilitate closer cooperation with Toshiba's nearby R&D centers and social infrastructure engineering and manufacturing facilities. It will also support Toshiba's continuing promotion and expansion of its smart community business.
The Smart Community Center will incorporate an intelligent Building Energy Management System (BEMS), making the building itself a showcase for smart community solutions, and will be the key center for the smart community project that Kawasaki city is currently promoting. A quake-absorbing structure, uninterruptible power supply, emerging power supply will allow operations in the building to continue, and contribute to early recovery from disaster.
The new center integrates the latest ICT, control systems and sensors to secure a comfortable, energy-efficient, disaster-resistant work environment. It includes the following features.
