OREANDA-NEWS. People's Government of Chongqing Municipality and NEC (Nippon Electric Company Limited) signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation in Chongqing, in order to propel development of cloud computing industry. 

The signing ceremony is attended by Huang Qifan and Chen Heping, leaders of Municipal Government, as well as Kaoru Yano, the Chairman of NEC.

According to the memorandum of strategic cooperation, NEC will establish NEC Chongqing Company in Chongqing Municipality, which engages on cloud computing business. The company will be responsible for cooperation with Municipal Government on five items of cloud computing data center, application of cloud platform, market development of cloud service, training of international software talent and technical research of cloud computing. In the near future, NEC will invest at least USD 100 million to develop a data center with about 50,000 servers and to establish "Chongqing International Cloud Computing College" in Liang Jiang New Area.

Huang Qifan says that after mainframe computer, personal computer and internet, cloud computing is regarded as the fourth revolution of IT industry. With continuous development of cloud computing development, dramatic changes are about to happen to trade modes and financial clearing methods in various countries and regions around the world, as well as people's daily life. Due to optimistic expectation for the future of cloud computing industry, Chongqing Municipal Government strives hard to develop information industry in accordance with central government's requirement of accelerating transformation of development mode and readjusting industrial structure. It proposes "Cloud Connect" project to promote construction of the manufacturing base for network terminal product and to plan construction of the cloud computing data center and supporting industrial base. According to the project, there expected to be 300,000 servers by 2015 and 1 million servers by 2020. Meanwhile, the project is also aimed at encouraging innovation of various data processing software and related service.  The strategic cooperation relationship with NEC will definitely become a driving force for development of cloud computing industry and offshore data processing business in Chongqing and even in China.

Kaoru Yano says that cloud computing technology is a milestone of IT industry development. As a world's leading supplier of IT and communication network industry, NEC attaches great importance on development of cloud computing in the future. It happens to share the same idea with "Cloud Connect" project of Chongqing. Chongqing is the central city of Western Development of China. It possesses immense potential of development. Cooperation of NEC and Chongqing Municipal Government is beneficial for development of both parties.
