Kazakh First Vice PM Attended World Economic Forum
OREANDA-NEWS. April 11, 2013. Kazakhstan’s delegation headed by First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Regional Development Bakytzhan Sagintayev has attended the World Economic Forum in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku.
Kazakhstan intends to enter the 30 developed countries of the world by 2050. The country has begun modernization and transformation of the economy, Bakytzhan Sagintayev said in a speech at the opening ceremony of the World Economic Forum.
The first practical step in this direction will be the transition to the principles of "green economy". Sustainable development is impossible without careful attitude towards nature and natural resources. Therefore, this is not accidental that Astana was chosen as a venue for the International Exhibition "Expo-2017", the main theme of which will be "Future Energy." This will attract the world's best technology and "green solutions" to the economy of our state, Bakytzhan Sagintayev said.
First Deputy Prime Minister, in his speech in Baku, outlined the main prospective directions of cooperation of Kazakhstan with the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus. These are the development of transport infrastructure, agricultural industry, trade, and energy sector.
Noting the importance and relevance of the problems discussed in Baku for the Central Asian region Bakytzhan Sagintayev invited the participants of the Forum to the World Anti-Crisis Conference under the auspices of the UN, which will be held in Astana in May of this year as part of the Sixth Astana Economic Forum.
During his visit to Azerbaijan Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and held bilateral meetings with Lithuania Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum Klaus Martin Schwab.
