OREANDA-NEWS. April 11, 2013. A delegation from the EBRD’s Board of Directors, which represent the Bank’s shareholders, will visit Azerbaijan on 7-10 April and Georgia on 10-12 April.

In Azerbaijan they will meet the President, Economy and Development and Finance ministers and the governor of the Central Bank.

In Georgia, the EBRD board delegation will meet the Prime Minister, members of the government and the President of the Central Bank.

During these visits, the EBRD delegation will also meet entrepreneurs, representatives of the diplomatic community, international financial institutions, banks and the civil society.

Representatives of the EBRD Board on this visit will include Memduh Akcay, Enrique Bal, Klara Krol, Giorgio Leccesi, Vassili Lelakis, Jan Maas, Jonathan Ockenden, Eoin Ryan, Joachim Schwarzer and Artem Shevalev.  

EBRD management will be represented by Paul-Henri Forestier, Director for Caucasus, Moldova and Belarus, Head of Office in Azerbaijan, Neil McKain, and senior political counsellor Mahir Babayev. 

Since the beginning of its operations, the EBRD has invested EUR 1.6 billion in Azerbaijan and EUR 1.8 billion in Georgia.

Recent projects in Azerbaijan include the first energy efficiency loan to an Azerbaijani bank, a loan to the largest domestic mineral water bottler, three credit lines for small businesses and a major road modernisation project.

Recent projects in Georgia include the Black Sea Transmission line, Georgian Agriculture Financing Facility, a loan to retail chain Smart Supermarkets, as well as registering the EBRD-supported Enguri hydropower plant to trade carbon credits.
