Ukrainians Must Learn to Respect Intellectual Property, Vice PM
OREANDA-NEWS. April 09, 2013. Ukrainians have to learn to esteem intellectual property. This was expressed by a Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko during a meeting dedicated to issues of training of IT-specialists held in Kharkiv national university named after V.N.Karazin.
“In the issue of international cooperation with regards to the most globalized branches of economics the protection of intellectual property rights has a peculiar meaning. Without solving of this issue we can expect neither serious foreign investments into IT-industry, nor forming of its positive image. I consider that national IT-companies must involve into a public campaign to educate Ukrainian citizens concerning the need to respect copyright,” K.Gryshchenko emphasized.
The Vice Prime Minister expressed assurance it was crucial to introduce in the curriculum of higher educational institutions a separate course dedicated to protection of intellectual property.
“The time of chaos and permissiveness has passed. Introduction of civilized rules of use of property rights is not just the part of our international commitments but the urgent need of our own economics. In this connection I suggest our educators to consider a possibility of including into curriculum a special course “Regulation and protection of intellectual property rights in Ukraine”. The relevant course will afford to raise the level of legal awareness of programmers and will give them essential understanding of ways of protecting their own findings,” K.Gryshchenko underlined.
