FAS: Another Cartel on Salt Market Is Exposed
OREANDA-NEWS. April 08, 2013. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) found that “Grosseri” Ltd., “TDS” CJSC, “Veles Group” Ltd., “Sol Bryanska” Ltd. and “TDS Rostov” Ltd. violated Clause 3 Part 1 Article 11 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition” by concluding an agreement that could have resulted in dividing the wholesale market of edible salt according to the geographic principle, volume of sales, the range of goods and the categories of buyers.
FAS issued a determination to the companies to eliminate the antimonopoly violation.
Earlier, in 2011 FAS exposed an anticompetitive agreement on the wholesale market of edible salt with involvement of “TDS” CJSC. The company was held administratively liable – FAS imposed a “turnover” fine.
“The case file contains an agreement about dividing the wholesale market of edible salt, which was concluded on 28th May 2010. Such agreements are prohibited per se. Liability is imposed for the fact of concluding the agreements, regardless of whether they were implemented and what consequences they caused”, stated the Head of FAS Anti-Cartel Department, Alexander Kinev.
