OREANDA-NEWS. April 08, 2013. The Head of the Analytical Department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) Alexey Sushkevich addressed the 9th Competition Conference organized by the International Bar Association in Sydney, Australia.

The Conference included a Round Table that focused on the main aspects of competition law, the role of regulators as well as some pressing issues and objectives in antimonopoly enforcement.

Conference participants discussed the problems associated with investigations of international cartels, merger control and exchanging information between competitors in the course of exercising economic activities.

In particular, Alexey Sushkevich, outlined priorities in the work of Russia’s antimonopoly authority, specifics of control over economic concentration, and control over foreign investments in Russian strategic companies.

“One of most important priorities for FAS is increasing efficiency of its efforts. To achieve this objective we use, in particular, a quality management system in accordance with ISO-9001 international standard of quality management”, commented Alexey Sushkevich.

Alexey Sushkevich also pointed out “taking part in such events enables improving competition enforcement in Russia, approximating it to the best world practices, as well as promoting Russia’s position in the global legal community”.

1. International Bar Association was formed in 1947. It is a leading organization of lawyers involved in development of international law and legal practice, and assist in exchanging information between bar associations across the globe.

FAS has been actively cooperating with International Bar Association for a long time in a bilateral format as well as by participating in the events organized by the Association.

The purpose of such cooperation is to achieve effective cooperation and support of activities of state regulators and legal community to establish unified law enforcement and ensure equal competition conditions.
