Ukraine Minister of Energy & Coal Industry Met with IMF Mission
OREANDA-NEWS. April 08, 2013. Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Eduard Stavytskyi met with a delegation of the International Monetary Fund mission.
During the event the parties considered the current situation in energy complex of Ukraine, issues of further cooperation with IMF, and present state of international relations of Ukraine in energy area.
In particular, the meeting concerned transformation processes focused on ensuring energy effective regime of activity of economics, improvement of relations in the area of functioning of market of natural gas and heat supply, forming of favorable investment climate.
Peculiar attention was paid to overcoming a problem of dependence of the country on the imported natural gas by means of its replacement with energy carriers of Ukrainian origin.
The participants emphasized that during recent years the structure of balances of fuel and energy resources had significantly changed, including in the result of diversification of sources of natural gas supply. Further changes will be made, in particular, at the account of realization of projects of gradual replacement of consumption of the imported natural gas with the domestic coal, including introduction of technologies of water-coal fuel and gasification of coal and realization of investment projects on extraction of natural gas from the Black Sea shelf with use of jack-up rigs, which will ensure significant growth of amounts of gas extracted in Ukraine.
